
Ken has spent the past 5 years serving as the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Crossroads Church and acts as the liaison between the school and the church. Prior to his ministry work, Ken taught in Christian education at the elementary and middle school levels for 26 years before serving as vice principal for 12 years also at the K-8 level. He is passionate about pointing kids to Christ and encouraging growth in their faith.

Greg Friesen
School Principal
Greg has 11 years of teaching experience and worked 14 years in school administration, primarily as school principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He recently moved from Oregon to principal Legacy Christian School and is excited God has called him back into Christian education.

Christina Cross
Assistant Principal
Christina has spent most of her 12-year educational career working as a public school counselor with middle and high school students. She spent 2 years also serving as a college counselor and as college adjunct professor teaching career and life skills. Christina is thrilled to be working in a Christian school environment where Christ can be at the center of every conversation.

Kristen Medley
Kindergarten Teacher
Kristen is continuing at Legacy as our Kindergarten teacher and also possesses 10 years of teaching experience primarily with preschool-aged children. She earned a Bachelor’s in Bible and Theology and Liberal Studies from William Jessup University and also possesses an Early Childhood Associate Teachers Certificate. Her goal as an educator is to provide a warm, caring environment and to keep Jesus as the center of everything.

Lea Mackay
1st grade teacher
Lea is returning to Legacy as our 1st grade teacher after her first year of teaching. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and spent five years homeschooling her two oldest children. Lea loves getting kids excited about learning and bringing creativity to the classroom. Her goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and encouraging classroom environment that reflects God’s great love for us!

Debbie MacRunnel
2nd grade teacher
Debbie is returning to Legacy as our 2nd grade teacher and comes with 30+ years of teaching experience from a variety of educational settings. She received her BS degree in Elementary Education from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. Since then, she has taught at public and private schools as well as homeschooled her own three children. After recently moving to Auburn and having taught in a public school, Debbie is excited to add to her 2nd grade classroom by incorporating the truths of the Bible and the love of Jesus Christ into her classroom at Legacy Christian School.

Marie Welch
3rd grade teacher
Marie is returning to Legacy with a multitude of experience working with youth of all ages! She possesses a tremendous gifting in and passion for music which will be an integral component of her 3rd grade classroom. She also leads worship for her home church and enjoys outdoor and physical education. Marie is passionate about helping youth see and accept the value God places on each of their lives and that He created them to be the unique individuals they are.

Meredith McCarthy
4th grade teacher
Meredith is excited to join our Legacy staff since taking a teaching hiatus after getting married and raising a family. She previously taught multiple subjects to Kindergarten through 7th graders in New Jersey and is excited to be stepping back into the classroom. Meredith’s creativity is evident in all she does and she looks forward to infusing that into every lesson, each day with her 4th graders. Her desire is to help children see and believe that they can accomplish all things, even hard things, with the help of the Lord.

Heather LaVallie
4th & 5th grade teacher
Heather is returning to Legacy as our 5th grade teacher. Heather recently moved back from Upstate New York and comes to us with over 16 years of experience teaching in private Christian Schools, as well as homeschooling. Heather has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and her California Teaching Credential from Chapman University. Heather is passionate about teaching children, encouraging them in their walk with the Lord and in helping children to discover God’s special plan for their lives.

Angie Perez
6th-8th Grade English/History/Bible Teacher
Angie is joining our Legacy staff with a multitude of experience working with and teaching students, young and old! She possesses the gift of teaching and makes learning come alive to those she is teaching. Angie is excited to share about and weave her extensive travels around the world into the study of World History, Ancient Civilizations, and how all of that points to the truth of God’s word. Her greatest desire is to show her students that Jesus is everything they do, everywhere they go, past, present, and future and that He alone provides for all of their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

6th-8th Grade Math/Science/Bible Teacher
Kristin is returning to Legacy this year and is thrilled to teach the subjects she is most passionate about: Science and Math! Her family recently moved back to Auburn after spending 5 years on the mission field in Honduras, with her family, where she was the co-director of a school. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Credential from William Jessup University and has taught for many years. She’s coming to us with a rich educational background, a passion for sharing the Gospel message, and helping kids cultivate their personal relationship and walk with Jesus.
